About MeBefore entering this profession, I spent many years working in an Occupational Health/NHS setting, playing a leading role in developing and managing a Cancer Screening Clinic for women. Throughout this time I gained a great deal of experience of the working environment, from ground floor to management; of workplace issues, and of occupational health.
I have been in private practice since 2004. As an MBACP Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist, I have met and maintained the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy’s required standards of professional training and practice for several years, and I adhere to their Ethical Framework. I undertake a continuous programme of training to add to my theoretical knowledge and to keep me updated about changes in current thinking and practice.
In the past I have developed and delivered Skills and Diploma Counselling Courses for Norfolk Adult Education and with a local counselling agency. Currently I am involved in organising opportunities for the continuing professional development of others and act as a mentor to other counsellors at the beginning of their career who wish to work in private practice.
As well as offering individual, open ended work, I am also trained and experienced in Couples Work, Brief Therapy and in Mediation, and am a qualified Supervisor offering supervision to counsellors and other workers in the helping professions.
I have a particular interest in Boarding issues and the life and relationship difficulties that may arise from this. I am therefore interested to work with ex-boarders, and with their partners and happy to accept any enquiries.
I have many years' experience of working with adults, aged 18 - 80+ with a wide range of presenting problems. I see individuals and couples who refer themselves, in my private practice, and sometimes in the workplace. I am also happy to receive referrals from GPs, Mental Health Teams, local Companies and Employee Assistance Programmes.
